There are many different tyre manufacturers and all offer an extensive range of new tyres to suit different pockets and usage. If you are not sure which is best for you then Hometyre will be happy to advise and give you prices for suitable tyres for your car. If you drive a high performance car then remember that the tyre is part of the suspension system and the car will have been designed with a particular type of tyre in mind. If possible replace your worn tyres with the same type as originally fitted or recommended by the manufacturer in your car's handbook.

Caravans and Campervans

Although your caravan or campervan probably doesn't do a great deal of mileage you need to check the tyres regularly for signs of ageing. Look for cracks or crazing in the sidewalls. We recommend that if your tyres haven't been changed for 5 years you should consider having them changed. You will find a Date Code on the sidewall of your tyre which tells you when the tyre was manufactured.

Wheel Alignment / Tracking

Does your vehicle have a vibration at speed or pulls to the left or right? If so you could have a problem either with the balance of one of your wheels or the tracking may need adjustment.

If your vehicle is veering to the right or left and your front tyres are wearing on the inner or outer edges you could have an alignment problem which means that your wheels are toeing in or toeing out more than they should. This can easily be rectified by using our laser wheel alignment system.

Balance weights are placed on wheels when new tyres are fitted to equalise the weight of the rubber on the rim so you get a smooth ride. Weights might fall off in use causing the wheel to become unbalanced and creating a vibration or an uneven ride. Although other mechanical issues can cause vibrations the tyres and wheels should always be checked first and we can easily do this for you.

Locking Wheel Nut Removal

Many alloy wheels are fitted with one special wheel nut which requires a special tool to remove it. This helps prevent theft of your expensive wheels. The tool is provided by the manufacturer when the car is new and is usually in the glovebox or boot with the spare wheel. Do you know where your's is? Without it you cannot get your tyres replaced or a puncture repaired.
