Winter tyres

Hometyre have access to a vast range of winter tyres.  Don't leave it till the snow comes as in the last two winters a last minute rush has caused tyre dealers across the country to run out of winter tyres.  With Hometyre you can order your tyres now, and pre-book a date and time to have them fitted.  Winter tyres are designed to work in temperatures of below 7^oC, at these lower temperatures summer tyres loose their elasticity and braking distances increase.  

If you are having Winter tyres fitted, you will need to have all four changed.

Puncture repairs

Hometyre can carry out puncture repairs (screws / nails in the tread) to British standards, we can also carry out slow puncture repairs where air leaks from under the rim or from around the valve. In the case of a leaking rim we remove the tyre, clean off any loose paint and corrosion, before applying a sealer, adding a new valve and replace the tyre.  

We have been advised not to carry out repairs to runflat tyres, as unless a number of guarantees are made, then this could invalidate your insurance.

Locking wheel nut removals

Lost or broken your locking wheel nut key (Adaptor)?  Then give us a call at Hometyre, we can remove most locking wheel nuts without damaging your wheels. Our technicians all carry specialist tools for the removal of locking wheel nuts. We can even remove the Macguard hardened nuts. Depending on the type of lock nut we have two methods of removing them, one is invasive and will damage the nut itself, the other is non-invasive. Either way since the key is lost you will need to buy some new replacement nuts.

In the last 2 years I have only come across four lock nuts I have not been able to remove, this is usually because they have been greatly overtightened by an impact wrench, or someone else has attempted to remove them and have damaged the locknuts leaving little for me to work with.

Some vehicles namely, Lexus, Chrysler, Peugeot, Ford, Skoda and BMW have some form of tyre pressure sensor, there are two types (Indirect as used by BMW which uses the ABS system. Or direct systems which use a special sensor valve.) Hometyre only deal with the direct sensor valve types. These generally have a 5 to 7 year lifespan, at which point they fail to work and you get a warning light on your dash.  We can replace these with original manufacturer parts at prices that beat most main dealers.
